1925 – 2025 Model T Ford Centenary Tour of Great Britain

April 9, 2025 - May 12, 2025

In May 1925 the 250,000″ British-built Model T rolled off the production line at the Manchester Trafford Park factory and to celebrate the achievement it took part in an epic trip around England, Scotland and Wales visiting as many Ford dealers as possible along the way. The car set off from Portsmouth on the 6th May 1925 and drove via some Ford dealers to the Wembley Empire Exhibition where it was displayed next to a fully functioning replica Ford production line on the Ford stand. The cars that were assembled on this exhibition production line all bore a special plaque to signify that they were assembled at the Empire exhibition (do any of these cars still exist?). The 250,000″ Ford then left Wembley and set off on the 3,600-mile trip visiting as many Ford dealers as possible along the way before returning to Portsmouth a few weeks later.

Neil Tuckett, along with some other brave pioneers are planning to reenact this journey in 2025 to commemorate 100 years since this took place. A provisional route has been plotted out, and a starting date from Northampton has been penciled in for the 9″ of April.  With it being a tall order to complete the full run, members are ‘ being encouraged to join the route when it passes their area.
